8 reasons why you should workout
Working-out is not all about losing weight and having big muscles. It’s about improving your health, the way you feel & look and finding the confidence and power that you didn’t know you had in you. This is a long process and there will be times when you will feel like giving up. To help you in those moments I have put together a list of reasons why you should not quit and instead choose to workout.
1. Working-out makes you happy
Exercising is great for lifting your spirit up and getting you off those bad mood moments. If you wonder how, it’s simple science. When you exercise, you release dopamine, serotonin and endorphins, also called the happiness hormones. These hormones are “guilty” of making you feel happy.
2. Get a boost of energy
You will probably think that this is not possible, as you usually use your energy in the gym to workout. However, you should know that once you start exercising regularly you will increase your strength and mobility and you will fell less pain and aches. This will help you in your day to day activities. From having to climb up the stairs to the fifth floor to having to carry your heavy groceries bags, you will not feel tired and out of breath when you workout regularly.
3. No more stress and anxiety
As I previously said, when you workout you release endorphins. The more endorphins you release the less worried you feel and your mood improves. Also, when you workout you will focus more on the exercises and so you will forget, at least for the moment, about any worries or problems you might have. Releasing stress and anxiety through workout will also help you clear your mind. With a relaxed and clear mind, you will find better solutions to your problems.
4. Workout will boost your confidence
If you haven’t exercised for a long time or if you haven’t worked-out until now, your first weeks at the gym will feel a bit frustrating. This is normal. Is part of your journey to find your confidence and strength. I assure you though that if you keep exercising and showing up at your gym classes, you will slowly but surely see a big improvement every week. When you start feeling better and discovering that you can improve you will also find your confidence. And the best thing about this, is that you will start being more confident in your personal and work life as well.
5. Build lean muscles
Most of us dream to have those well-defined lean muscles. Well guess what, if you choose weight training you can get into your dream shape. This kind of workout allows you to burn more calories and grow lean muscles. However, you need to also combine workout with a healthy balanced food plan and quality rest time to get these results.
6. Improve your brain functions
According to a recent study, exercise is beneficial for your brain and memory as it produces a chemical called Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). BDNF helps to create new connections in our brains, which then makes it easier for us to learn, get more creative ideas and improve our memory.
7. Working-out gives you some time for yourself
Working-out is an activity that you should carry out for yourself. The time spent in the gym or at home exercising, is the time you dedicate to improve the way you feel & look. This is the perfect moment to take a break from everyone around you and focus on your needs. Trust me when I say that you will feel grateful and happy for taking an hour every day, from your busy schedule, to dedicate it to yourself.
8. You can inspire your friends and family
When you improve your life quality people will notice. First your friends or family will want to know why do you have so much energy. Then they will ask what do you do to have such a clean and healthy skin and they will be amassed by the way you have transformed your body. Slowly you will become a role model and you will inspire others to make a change in their life.
I hope this list will inspire you and motivate you to get out of your comfort zone and start working-out. And if you feel like skipping a workout day, just because you don’t feel like it, I strongly encourage you to use this list as a motivation tool.
