3 healthy recipes to satisfy your sweet tooth

Sometimes you might find it difficult to fight your sweet cravings. Especially if you often eat refined sugar foods and you try to change your diet into a healthy one. It can be difficult to go from sugar every day to no sugar in a short period of time. One way to trick your body is to slowly decrease the amount of sugar foods you consume until your body doesn’t need the sugar anymore. Another trick is to change the unhealthy desserts you eat with healthier options. You will trick your mind and you will also satisfy your sweet cravings. In this article, I will share 3 healthy dessert recipes to help you in your journey to eat healthier.

Chocolate Mousse

If you love chocolate desserts this mousse recipe is perfect for you. This is a simple, quick and delicious mousse and it’s also great for those who are off dairy.


Ingredients:

  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 3 tablespoons of raw cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey


Directions:


Place the can of coconut milk in the fridge overnight. This will make the coconut cream to rise to the top and solidify. Once you are ready to prepare this dessert take the can out of the fridge and use only the cream from the can. Place the cream into a bowl. Don’t throw the coconut water left. You can use this for your morning smoothies.

Using a mixer, mix the cream until light and airy. Add the cocoa and honey and continue to mix until you get the consistency of a creamy mousse. Place the mousse into glasses and you can top it with berries or coconut shavings. Enjoy!


Banana and Strawberry Ice cream


It will take you just 5 minutes to prepare this ice cream, you don’t need a fancy ice cream machine and it is a guilty free dessert … you should definitely try this recipe.


Ingredients:


  • 3 frozen bananas (peeled and sliced before being frozen)
  • 2 cups of frozen strawberries
  • 3 tablespoons of raw honey
  • ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice


Directions:


Place all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Make sure you use a good quality blender which can blend frozen fruits. Place the ice cream mix in a container with a lid and freeze until you get the desired consistency.


Dark chocolate frozen bananas


This dessert is perfect for everyone in your family. Even kids will like it. It will take you a bit longer to make these, however it is worth the trouble.


Ingredients:


  • 4 bananas
  • 250g of good quality dark chocolate (or dark chocolate chips)
  • 8 popsicle sticks


Toppings:

  • Shaved coconut
  • Diced berries
  • Chopped nuts


Directions:


On a baking tray (or a larger plate) place a parchment sheet. Peel the bananas and slice each in half. Insert a popsicle stick in each banana half and place the bananas on the tray / plate. Freeze the bananas for 2 hours.

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler until smooth. Once the chocolate has melted pour it into a tall glass. Take the bananas from the freezer and dip each banana in the melted chocolate until these are coated. Sprinkle the toppings you like on top, then place each banana on the baking tray / plate, on the parchment sheet. Freeze the bananas for another hour or 2. Enjoy!
